1. What kind of experience do you have as a photographer?

Hi! I'm Michelle and I am a Photographer based in the Swan Valley. I specialise in studio newborn sessions that capture the beautiful connection with your new little one.

I have been photographing Newborns and their families for over 6 years now and it absolutely has my heart.

2. What type of photography do you specialise in?

I specialise in Newborn and "Older" baby sessions. I also love seeing my newborns come back for their 1 year sessions where they can let their little (or BIG) personalities shine through.

I do also love a very simple and classic Maternity session in the studio. This is a great way for us to get to know each other before your Newborn session.

3. Where are you located?

My studio in in Aveley, in the beautiful Swan Valley. I provide all wraps/props etc for bubs and I also have some dresses for Mum's if they wish as I know you will think of yourself last and with a new baby, you may not get the time to look for a dress you are comfy and happy in.

4. When should clients book their photography sessions?

I recommend to get intouch once you have decided you would like to have a Newborn shoot with me. The earlier the better as I only take a small amount each month to make sure that I allow space for flexible dates - these little ones like to arrive in their own time. Your date is pencilled in and then once bubs arrives, we shuffle the date to suit.

Newborn sessions are available on weekdays at 9:30am. I allow anywhere up to 4 hours so that there is plenty of time for feeding, settling, cuddles etc. I don't want anyone to ever feel under pressure. This should be a relaxing and beautiful experience for you all.

5. What kind of prices and packages do you offer?

There is a package to suit everyone - and if you don't see a package to suit you, let me know and I will do a custom package just for you.

The pricing is split into 2 parts to allow you to pick your best suited package after your shoot.

There is a Newborn Session fee which covers the session time, the preliminary editing and the online viewing gallery where you can make your selections in the comfort of your own home. This is $250.

Packages start at $599 and they include some high resolution digital images (both colour and B&W) and some prints. Payment plans are also available and fully customisable.

6. How should customers prepare for their photography sessions?

All you need to bring is your little one, food for bubs, any outfits you wish to wear, nappies and your preferred wipes (I do have some but I know people do like their own).

I will provide all wraps, props, bonnets, headbands for bubs and I also have some snacks and coffee/tea for mum and dad. There is also a big comfy couch that you can rest on - or in many cases, nap on 😊

You will also receive a detailed questionnaire beforehand that will help me to plan for the session. This is a great way for you to share with me what you would like to get from the session.

7. What should customers expect during a photography session?

The studio is a calm space. I want for you to feel comfortable and relaxed during our session.

When you arrive, we will settle in and give bubs a top up feed if needed while we chat and look at the setups for the day. We start with Family/Parent/Sibling photos and then move onto the Newborn portion where we can capture your mini all their close up tiny details.

8. How do you ensure safety of the newborn during the session?

I have spent many years learning and ensuring I am educated in Newborn safety. This is my absolute top priority.

If I am asked to capture something that I believe to be unsafe - I will very politely refuse and explain why we shouldn't.

Newborn Photography is like magic - alot of smoke and mirrors. Its all about the angles and in many cases the post production editing in Photoshop. Sometimes the final product looks very different to the way it is captured during the shoot.

9. How soon will customers be able to get their photos?

Once our session is done, within 2 weeks you will received an online proof gallery to make your selections.

When you have finalised your selections, they are then placed into the editing queue to have the final edits completed. This usually takes no longer than 2 weeks but I will keep you updated if this is expected to be slightly longer during peak times.

You will receive both Colour and Black and White versions of your selected photos. They will be sent to you as a high resolution download which you can save and share. Your prints and products are then ordered from a professional lab (depending on selected package).

There are many beautiful products on offer also, from albums to canvas and wooden prints.

10. Do you have anything else you would like to tell us?

I LOVE being a part of your story. These photos will mean so much more than you may realise. You will share these with family and most likely post them on social media. But when your little ones start to grow, they will love looking at these photos of themselves. They will spark conversations about that time and they will want you to tell them stories from when they were a baby. Then one day they move out and the photos will be what transports you back to the most amazing and life changing journey you started all of those years ago.
