10 Question with Christeen Ward

Business: Love Olive. Photography

Location: Aveley, Western Australia

Experience: 9 Years

Photography Types: Baby, Cake Smash, Family, Maternity, Newborn

1. What kind of experience do you have as a photographer?

Hi There... I am Christeen, the face behind the lens at Love Olive. Photography. I have been photographing pregnancy, newborns & families (and every age in between) for over 9 years. I absolutely LOVE capturing my clients most cherished moments, it's an honour being present & watching your story unfold through my lens.

As a Mum myself, I realise just how fleeting these moments can be. So... I made it my mission to follow my heart. Turning moments into treasured keepsakes is my superpower.

2. What type of photography do you specialise in?

I specialise in Maternity, Newborn, Milestone & Family Sessions. With a minimalistic vibe, I love to capture YOU... because you are the hero of your images. No distractions, just honest, timeless portraits that capture little (and big) personalities.

Working with tiny babies is an absolute honour, a brand new little life. Therefore, the safety of your precious new babe is my number one priority. I have completed safety training & courses, not to mention all of my posing is baby-led which means bub is comfortable & safe on my soft beanbag at all times.

3. Where are you located?

Based in the beautiful Swan Valley, I have a small home studio with a bright, clean vibe.

Maternity, newborn, baby, cake smash & small family sessions are all welcome in the studio.

Living on the doorstep of the Swan Valley also allows me access to some seriously gorgeous locations, so if you are wanting to explore outdoors with your family or for a sunset maternity session, I've got you!

4. When should clients book their photography sessions?

The best time to book your newborn session is in your second trimester. This allows us to secure your session, a tentative date is held and once bub arrives earthside we lock in your session. Ideally for the sleepy/curly poses I aim to photograph bub in the first 14 days.

As a mum I can understand that sometimes it's just not possible to get out of the house in those first few weeks, life happens. Please do not let this stop you booking your little one in, I have successfully photographed older newborns many times and I 100% encourage you to book in. EVERY age is worth documenting.

5. What kind of prices and packages do you offer?

Little Love - Lots of Love - All the Love

3 inclusive packages to choose from in each genre.

Starting from $399 my packages are designed with everyone's budget in mind. I have a large range of designer outfits/dresses in my complimentary client closet so you don't even have to worry about what to wear. I have a gorgeous range of soft, delicate wraps/outfits/blankets for my little newborn clients as well as some of the sweetest little bonnets, sleepy caps and dainty tiebacks.

Each package includes your session, a set amount of digital images (based on your selected package), hand edited by me, delivered to you in a private online gallery. Each package also includes a print credit so you can purchase a tangible product, whether it be a print, wood mount or framed artwork you can rest assured I have found a professional lab that will deliver a high end product every time.

6. How should customers prepare for their photography sessions?

I have tried to take the stress out of preparing for a session as much as possible. When you book in for your session I send a guide with lots of helpful information so you don't have to try and remember everything.

I provide all the outfits/wraps/props, even a client closet for Mum. I even pop out some snacks incase you're feeling peckish.

Aside from your normal baby bag, it's handy to pop an extra bottle or two (if not breastfeeding) and a dummy to help bub settle. Being an adorable little model is hungry work ;)

7. What should customers expect during a photography session?

Be ready to relax whilst I work my magic! I have a nice calm studio, it's cozy warm for bub with soft white noise playing. You are most welcome to sit in & watch or take some time out to chill on the couch. My newborn sessions typically run for approximately 3 hours.

If siblings are attending, 3 hours can seem like a lifetime. I am lucky enough to live within a 2 minute walk to a lovely little park/playground, so if children need a break that is a really great option.

8. How do you ensure safety of the newborn during the session?

The safety of your baby is the number one priority. I have extensive experience working with newborns and only pose using baby-led posing. Under no circumstances is baby put in any dangerous or uncomfortable poses/positions or left unattended at any time.

Aside from being a mother myself I also have my Cert. 3 in Children's Services and worked with babies for many years, I have first aid training and have completed training on posing safety.

My studio & home is a kept clean & tidy to ensure a positive experience. Sessions are rescheduled if there is illness of any kind.

9. How soon will customers be able to get their photos?

We have just completed your session and your excited to see your photos... I 100% get it as I am just excited to show you!!

Usually by the following day, I will have a sneak peek up on my socials so you're not waiting.

Then approximately 1 week after your session you can expect to receive a link to your "proof" gallery - These are not yet edited.

Once you have made your selection of your favourite images - any upgrades paid etc you are popped in the edit queue. This takes approximately two weeks to deliver.

10. Do you have anything else you would like to tell us?

Creating timeless images for you to treasure forever is what makes my heart full! It's minimalistic because YOU are the hero! Your family are the heroes! It will never go out of style, it's ageless and it will be something that will be passed down through the generations. I would love to work with you & capture your next chapter.
