1. What kind of experience do you have as a photographer?
Hi, my name is Niki Sprekos and the wonder of Niki Sprekos Photography. I started my photography business in 2012 when I took my love of photography to a whole new level. After having my two beautiful girls I dedicated time into studying and completed many courses and workshops in mastering my photography and newborn skills.
In 2015/16 I left my job in Human Resources and ventured into full time photography and opened up my home studio. From my studio I have photographed over 750 sessions. These sessions include Newborn, Maternity, Baby, Family, Cake Smashes and many Christmas Minis as well.
I love the photographing connection and love within images and love how every session is never ever the same.
2. What type of photography do you specialise in?
I specialise in newborn and baby photography. I love everything about babies and love photographing them. I love their little features, their fresh baby hair, little toes, cute little smiles and all yawns and stretches too. There is so much to love and I feel truly blessed to do this as a job.
In addition I also do a lot of maternity, cake smash and family photography.
3. Where are you located?
My studio is located in Malvern East right around the corner from Chadstone Shopping Centre. I also provide outdoor family and maternity sessions as well.
The studio makes all clients feel right at home. It has such a warmth and the most relaxing environment for newborn and baby photography sessions. The studio is complete with everything required for a successful session including props, wraps and accessories.
4. When should clients book their photography sessions?
There are limited session that are available each month. This is to ensure that all my clients get availability when needed. This is particularly important to newborn clients as we do not have exact shoot dates until they are born.
Therefore it is recommended to book in as early as possible into your pregnancy.
During the year there are times where particular months get sold out as clients pre book older sitter sessions and cake smash sessions. So please book early.
Newborns -
Newborns are best photographed from day 8-14 days old. When my clients baby is born they contact with their exciting news which is so lovely. From there I confirm a shoot date that works with you.
Baby Sessions -
These sessions are photographed anywhere from 6 – 12 months and clients generally book these after their newborn session.
Maternity -
My clients book in their newborn and maternity at the same time. Maternity sessions are generally photographed anywhere from 28-37 weeks pregnant.
Cake Smash -
This fun session is generally photographed from 10 months of age and generally clients book this session in really early and book ahead to avoid disappointment.
5. What kind of prices and packages do you offer?
I offer affordable and simple packages to all newborn, maternity, baby, cake smash and family clients.

All packages include digital (JPEG) images and other amazing products as well. I also offer a range up upgrades should clients wish to add albums, prints, wall art, etc.
6. How should customers prepare for their photography sessions?
All my clients will receive constant email communication throughout the process of their photography journey with me.
Before every session clients will be sent a detailed preparation guide informing them of everything there is to know about their session. This includes styling information, what to wear, what to expect, what to bring, etc. In addition I will follow you up before your session with a phone call to ensure you are 100% comfortable.
There is a lot of information to take in with just having a newborn so I ensure that my preparation guides are detailed so you can always refer back to them.
But the great thing is that Niki has everything required in the studio for your newborn such as wraps, blankets, headbands, bonnets, props, wipes, nappy bags, change area, baby susher etc. Niki also has refreshments in the studio and allows clients to bring in food too.
7. What should customers expect during a photography session?
Newborn sessions can last between 2-3 hours, sometimes longer if baby is a light sleeper, very alert or hungry! Sometimes extra feeds, cuddles and settling may be needed and that is ok.
The temperature in the studio can range from 23 to 28 degrees, so I ask clients to dress appropriately. As newborns are nude for the majority of the session, I have to adjust the room to ensure they are more comfortable and can sleep soundly.
As soon as you enter the studio you will not be required to do a thing. You get to relax the whole time and watch me work my magic and enjoy your newborn's first ever photoshoot.
8. How do you ensure safety of the newborn during the session?
Newborn safety is always number one priority in my studio. With over 7 years of experience I have had many news in handling newborns. Every newborn is completely different to what they can and can't do. No baby is ever forced into any position or put at risk. This is where specific newborn photography courses that I have completed together with years of experience is what makes Niki Sprekos Photography a leader in its field.
I have also been fully vaccinated, are registered and have insurance as well.
In addition, the studio is immaculately cleaned before and after every session.
9. How soon will customers be able to get their photos?
All clients receive a full gallery to view within 2-5 weeks after their session. All clients receive a private online gallery which can be viewed from home. Clients can also share this private gallery to family and friends.
In addition you will be able to purchase products through this gallery and the process is simple from start to end.
10. Do you have anything else you would like to tell us?
I love photographing newborns and the beautiful family connection that parents and siblings have. This is such a special time in all families lives and I feel blessed to be able to create these memories for you.
What I also love is working with clients to making your session personalised to what your style is. I can't wait to work together with you.
