Blackmores Follow On Formula Stage 2 Review

Blackmores Follow On Formula Stage 2 Review

I have had three babies, and never found a stage of feeding that wasn’t challenging.

When feeding a newborn you can easily feel so lost and overwhelmed.

I had no idea what I was doing, or with breastfeeding, how much my son was taking in.

When I expressed he refused the bottle unless I was nowhere within his sight or hearing.

When I returned to work and then had to supplement with formula there was a whole new level of stubborn refusal from my precious little one.

Then I got to six months and the introduction of solids.

So many options faced me, and way too many decisions to cope with.

Which foods?

When?

How do I prepare them?

How much do I give?

How much variety does he need?

How much milk or formula as well?

How can feeding a baby be so complicated and so boring at the same time?

With the introduction of solids, you do still need to supplement your baby’s nutritional intake with either breastmilk or formula.

Do you want your products to be reviewed by our expert mothers?

Get your pregnancy and baby products exposed to over 50,000 new Australian mothers per month!

At six months, around half of your baby’s diet should still be from formula or breast.

If you need to choose formula, whatever your reasons, you can rest assured that the products in Australia are all very good.

All products have to comply with Australian standards in order to be sold, and all products nutritionally have what your baby needs.

Knowing that any product is good, you are still faced with a wealth of choice of formula, and possibly too many decisions again.

The product you end up choosing may depend on some combination of the following factors:

  • If your baby has specific tummy troubles, allergies or dietary requirements
  • If you wish to choose plant-based products
  • How much you want to spend
  • What is a trustworthy or ethically inclined brand
  • What your baby likes
  • What is convenient
  • What is available

Some babies will only let you give them one specific brand of formula, other more flexible and considerate babies will let you go with whatever is on the shelf or on sale.

You may need to try a few formula products until you find one that you and Bubs are both happy with.

Blackmores is an old and trusted brand, and their Follow On Formula is excellent.

It contains 25 nutrients that your baby needs while starting to eat solids. He will start moving around a lot more at this time and need more energy sources than before.

Also, his digestive system is better developed and he can process a wider range of things. Follow-On Formula is slightly differently composed than infant formula because of this, and you should move onto the second stage formula at this time.

Blackmores source their formula in partnership with Tatura Milk, another old Australian brand, who generally are known to treat their farmers quite well.

This is a cow’s milk-based product, so contains lactose and proteins from cow’s milk.
