1. What made you become a photographer?

Hey there! I'm Amanda. I'm a natural light newborn, maternity and family photographer.

My love of natural lifestyle photography blossomed into Little Seeds Photography when I was searching for a photographer that would capture my own family in an authentic way; no fake smiles - I wanted to capture the gorgeous little expressions & wonderful character quirks that are unique to my children.

As a Mum, I want to capture exactly that for other Mums, so that when they look back at their photos in years to come, they will be transported back to that moment through its authenticity, connection and meaning. I do this by capturing newborns in their own homes with their families all over Brisbane, and for families without newborns, I chase them around fields with mountain backdrops at sunset!

2. What type of photography do you specialise in?

Natural light lifestyle photography for newborns & families is my jam! I also capture the beautiful and blissful stage that is pregnancy. But the core of each of those is about what really matters within the photograph itself - real connections, smiles, laughter and pure love. Showcasing the uniqueness of a family unit - the relationships within them; the personalities of children; and the un-posed natural beauty of newborns. I absolutely LOVE capturing newborn's in their own home - it's a little bubble of hope and love.

3. Where are you located?

I count myself very lucky to be based in Samford Valley, just 35minutes north-west of Brisbane CBD. I have hand-picked, mountain backdrop locations out here for photographing families running around fields of long grass and flowers at sunset.

For newborn sessions, I travel all over Brisbane's northside and some areas south of the river to photograph families with new members in their own homes.

4. When should clients book their photography sessions?

I tend to book out 3-6 months in advance for newborn sessions, and 6-8 months out for family sessions. So if you are interested in booking a session, it's a great idea to plan ahead. This also gives us lots of time to plan the styling side of the session, for which I can give you as much or as little help as you need, including borrowing beautiful dresses from my client closet. You can see some of these dresses in my instagram highlight 'client closet' @littleseedsphotography.

From time to time I might have a spot available due to a client needing to postpone, so if you're within those timeframes just drop me a message anyway and I'll let you know!

5. What kind of prices and packages do you offer?

I want this process to be as enjoyable, transparent and seamless as possible for my clients. So I offer digital-only packages which means that clients choose the number of images they want ahead of the session, and will be able to download and keep them for life (and print as they see fit).

After a session, I go away and work my magic on their images, and about 2 weeks later I will deliver a full collection of images in a private online gallery for clients to make their selections from. And, if clients are looking for prints or product such as albums, canvases and frames, I also offer these from my preferred Australian print houses. Packages start from $850.

6. How should customers prepare for their photography sessions?

Once clients book with me, I provide them with a private online client portal with links to styling advice, session guides and client closet. We'll work together to make sure you are prepared for your session, and I'll let you know all my little tricks to having a settled bub or happy kids for your session!

7. What should customers expect during a photography session?

For In-home newborn sessions please allow 45 minutes - 1.5 hours. There is no clock watching or rushing, if baby needs a feed, we stop to feed. Outdoor family sessions, or in-home family sessions last about an hour.

My sessions are relaxed and fun. I give my clients plenty of instruction and guidance so that they never feel uncomfortable or lost. There will be plenty of cuddles between family members, taking in the moment of loving your beautiful baby, and giggles from the kids.

I get SO MANY post-session emails from Mums who say it was so enjoyable and that their partner thoroughly enjoyed it. Kids have a ball and we're all exhausted at the end!

8. How do you ensure safety of the newborn during the session?

Babies are perfect exactly the way they are; the natural way they stretch and yawn, and how they naturally position themselves. I don't use props or unnatural poses. Babies are safest in the arms of their parents, safely laid on a bed or swaddled in their cot. When parents look back at their newborn photos in years to come, I want them to be transported back to the moment with clarity, and I believe that natural baby photography in their own homes will do this.

9. How soon will customers be able to get their photos?

After the session I go through a process of selecting and hand-editing each image. Usually the day of or the day after I will post a little sneak peek from the session on my instagram account @littleseedsphotography, and then about 2-3 weeks after a session I'll deliver a full collection of images via a private online gallery. Clients can then grab a cup of coffee and in their own time view their gallery and select their images for download! Simple.
