10 Questions with Milena Ratajczak of MPR Photography

Business: MPR Photography

Location: Gregory Hills, New South Wales

Experience: 6 Years

Photography Types: Baby, Cake Smash, Family, Maternity, Newborn

1. What kind of experience do you have as a photographer?

Hi! I'm Milena, the face behind MPR Photography. I am a happily married mum of 3 and have been a professional photographer for the past 5 years. During this time I have been extremely lucky to photography hundreds of beautiful families from all over New South Wales.

2. What type of photography do you specialise in?

I specialise in photographing Newborn babies!

From the moment I started learning photography I knew that my focus would be on those gorgeous little bundles of joy! After having my own babies, I was quickly drawn to the magic of newborns. Those first few weeks after giving birth are exhausting and often become a blur as you adjust to life with your new addition.

I love that my job is to capture those tiny little details and the bond between parents / siblings with the baby in those first couple of weeks, so that when you try to remember those early stages you will have treasured keepsakes to look back on.

Although I specialise in newborns I love capturing all of your milestones, whether it be a glowing mum to be or an older baby. I also love getting outdoors and photographing families.

3. Where are you located?

All of my indoor sessions are photographed at my studio which is located in Gregory Hills, just a 10 minute drive from Camden. My studio is available via appointment only and has been designed to create the perfect environment for your session.

My outdoor maternity and family sessions are located in the Camden area.

4. When should clients book their photography sessions?

For newborns, as soon as they have decided that they would like to go ahead. Given babies rarely arrive on their due date, I only take a certain amount of bookings each month to ensure that I have flexibility to accomodate clients for when their bundle of joy actually arrives. I tend to book out a couple of months in advance and I'm not always able to take on last minute enquiries.

When it comes to maternity, baby and family, I have greater availability and these can be booked closer to your desired date.

5. What kind of prices and packages do you offer?

My session fee is $150. This includes your session time with me, a design and ordering appointment and a print credit. Packages then start from $549.

6. How should customers prepare for their photography sessions?

Each type of session requires different preparation and I provide a detailed guide to all of my clients depending on the type of session they have booked in.

When it comes to newborn sessions, the studio has all of the essentials covered, including wraps, props, headbands, outfits, blankets etc. Getting out of the house with your baby for the first time can be a daunting experience but what I want most for my clients is for them to enjoy the experience!

7. What should customers expect during a photography session?

Each baby is different, and realistically, it's the little one who determines the length of the session. On average, you should expect to spend anywhere between 2-4 hours for your newborn session.

Maternity, Baby and Family sessions ranges between 40 minutes to 1.5 hours (depending on the package that you have chosen).

8. How do you ensure safety of the newborn during the session?

Safety is a big one for me and my number 1 priority during a session. I will never ever force a baby into a pose. Some babies are resistant to certain poses and thats ok! I will just move on to others during the session.

I am extremely diligent when it comes to keeping the studio clean between shoots. Everything is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each session.

9. How soon will customers be able to get their photos?

Generally, 1 week after your session you will be invited to your online ordering appointment. During this time we will go through your gallery and you will choose the photos you would like to be included as part of your package. We will also go through any art work options that you may like to add to your package with your $100 print credit.

Once your selection has been made, I will then go ahead and individually edit the photos that you have chosen and present you with the high resolution files. At that time I will also go ahead and order and prints or products included as part of your package.

10. Do you have anything else you would like to tell us?

I truly love what I do! I have been so lucky to do this for the past 5 years and along my journey I have met some incredible families.

I take a lot of care in creating an exceptional client experience before, during and after the session takes place. I would love the opportunity to create some beautiful memories for you. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or would like any additional information.
